As the Senior Electrical Engineer on the rig, I have the crucial responsibility of overseeing the maintenance and proper functioning of all electrical systems. My role entails meticulously planning and executing preventive maintenance schedules, accurately diagnosing and efficiently repairing malfunctions, and ensuring that all electrical work strictly adheres to safety regulations and industry standards. Additionally, I play a pivotal role in emergency response planning, as I am accountable for maintaining the reliability of emergency power systems. I am proficient in working with a diverse range of equipment, including AC Motors, VFDs, Generators, PLCs, instrumentation devices, and more.
In addition to these technical duties, I lead a team of electricians, training them in safety procedures and ensuring that their work meets our high standards. I liaise with other departments to coordinate electrical work and ensure a smooth operation of the rig. I am adept at utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and am always at the forefront of implementing new technologies to improve efficiency and safety.
My role demands a thorough understanding of electrical principles, a strong knowledge of industry regulations, and the ability to work in a challenging and high-pressure environment. Moreover, as the rig operates 24/7, I am often required to work irregular hours and be on call in case of emergencies.

My primary responsibility as a night electrical engineer on the rig involved maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide array of electrical systems throughout the rig. These systems range from power generation and distribution networks to drilling operations equipment. I performed regular inspections to ensure all electrical systems are functioning efficiently and safely during the night shift. Additionally, I was responding promptly to any electrical malfunctions or breakdowns, restoring functionality to ensure uninterrupted drilling operations. I also adhere strictly to all safety protocols, ensuring a safe work environment despite the inherent risks associated with the position. My role required a high degree of technical knowledge, resilience, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.

As an Assistant Electrical Engineer on an oil drilling rig, my primary responsibilities included assisting the Senior Electrician with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the electrical systems on the rig. I was also responsible for identifying potential hazards and ensuring that all work was carried out in accordance with industry safety procedures.
